On September 3, 2015, Governor Brown signed AB 656 into law. AB 656 was sponsored by CalMutuals to benefit mutual water companies statewide.
The bill’s language allows two or more mutual water companies and one or more public agencies to create a Joint Insurance Authority (JPIA) for the purposes of utilizing residual funds to be used to facilitate grant applications, technical support, continuing education and safety engineering.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) is the first step in establishing the JPIA.
The deadline to submit the proposal is October 23, 2015.
