Every year thousands of agriculture workers perform non-routine tasks during the off-season. A non-routine task is work not normally done by the employee, and where they have little or no experience. Roof repair, construction, painting, trenching, and welding are some examples of non-routine tasks in agriculture.   Employees performing non-routine tasks without a standard operating procedure, sufficient training, or required protective equipment can suffer severe injuries and even death. This course provides an overview of the preparation and actions required to safely perform nonroutine tasks.   This session covers: Factors contributing to possibility of severe injury during non-routine tasks Creating standard operating procedures for non-routine tasks Non-routine task hazard identification and selection of personal protective equipment selection Non-routine task employee selection, safety training, and emergency preparedness
