Every year thousands of agriculture workers perform non-routine tasks during the off-season. A non-routine task is work not normally done by the employee, and where they have little or no experience. Roof repair, construction, painting, trenching, and welding are some examples of non-routine tasks in agriculture.   Employees performing non-routine tasks without a standard operating procedure, sufficient training, or required protective equipment can suffer severe injuries and even death.
