EPA Small Systems Webinar 25 Feb 2020 Flyer EPA’s Office of Research and Development and Office of Water host this monthly webinar series to discuss challenges and treatment solutions for small drinking water systems and communicate current small drinking water systems research along with Agency priorities. Presentations by Ed Moriarty, Matt Reed, and Sarah Bradbury will touch on the EPA's online drinking water training system, water operator hiring and contracting guide and consumer confidence reports iWriter tools aimed at assisting small system in varying ways.

Due to COVID-19, many water utilities are not shutting water off for non-payment, as well as waiving late and reconnection fees. Some utilities have made this choice, while others are under moratoriums set by their states. How can utilities continue to operate so that the water stays on to combat COVID-19 through handwashing when some customers aren’t paying? This webinar will provide practices to mitigate the revenue loss to utilities. One practice will involve offering low-flow restrictors to non-paying customers to reduce their volumetric charges. We will also look at how customer assistance programs (CAPs) can be started or expanded at small water systems. The webinar will cover ways to fund these CAPs.
