Member Spotlight:   Banning Heights Mutual Water Company

Banning Heights Mutual Water Company in Riverside County has battled to have Southern California Edison reconstruct a damaged canal and pipeline providing water to its unincorporated community of 175 homes since 1998. Their story spans two decades of patchwork fixes, stalled negotiations and occasional intervention by regulators and elected officials and Banning resident Julie Hutchinson has tallied more than $533,000 in related expenses.

Residents are pinning their hopes on 2019 efforts by Congressmen Ken Calvert and Raul Ruiz to restart negotiations with the USDA.
