Like all equipment, water wells must be maintained to ensure long life and quality water within the system. Wells need to be monitored regularly to compile vital information on the health of the source. Participants will learn: Well inspection Well operation and maintenance practices Well pump basics and how to properly throttle a well pump Groundwater quality concerns and trouble indicators Measuring drawdown and tracking over time Well sounders: Which one is right for me? The recommended audience includes operators, management, water system personnel or anyone with an interest in better understanding the value of operating a safe drinking water system.

The California Association of Mutual Water Companies ("CalMutuals") was founded by fourteen (14) mutual water companies to advocate and develop resources to support other mutual water companies statewide. Today, our membership has grown to include almost 500 mutual water companies. In our first decade, CalMutuals experienced tremendous growth in membership, influence, and the scope of support it provides our members. Our growth would not have been possible without the support of state legislators who understand the challenges of small water systems and actively work towards effective solutions on their behalf. Attached to our invitation is a list of our major milestones and accomplishments as an association.   • Board Basics: The Safe Drinking Water Act

    Throughout the country, small water system staff adhere to regulations to provide safe drinking water for their customers. The drinking water system staff follow directions from the state or county health department but may not realize that these regulations began at a federal level. This workshop will teach operators, managers and board members how and why these regulations exist. Participants will learn: The basis for SDWA and the related U.S. code and federal regulations How drinking water events correspond with amendments to the SDWA How to look-up drinking water regulations under development and review The recommended audience includes all water system operators and managers.

    This training builds on EPA’s Cybersecurity 102 Training for Water Systems, providing further details on cybersecurity threats facing the water sector. Participants will learn about state-sponsored threats, risks to Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, malware, and vulnerabilities within Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs). The course also highlights real-world cybersecurity incidents impacting water systems, emphasizes the importance of staying informed on emerging threats, and outlines incident reporting processes and available cybersecurity resources to support preparedness and resilience.
